As a former military working dog handler, I can be skeptical of stories and reports on our beloved dog teams as they can often be sensationalized or full of misinformation. Frankel not only captures the heroism and history of dog teams in great detail and accuracy, but offers unprecedented access to the training dogs and handlers go through and the everlasting relationships they forge. This book is a tremendous gift to the military working dog community and those interested in it." In War Dogs , [Frankel] takes an up-close look at military dog handlers and their canines. The stories she tells are compelling, enlightening, and downright touching." L'amour est un oiseau rebelle" (by Georges Bizet) sung by Maria Callas and the Orchestre national de France

I was absorbed in Bryant's stories and experiences on the front-line; the decision he made to be separated from his children and the consequences of doing so. The relationship Bryant forms with each of his dogs is heartwarming and through the narrative he brings out the different characters of these hard working K9's. This is yet another book on dogs and how they are utilized by the military in war situations. It really is quite amazing that dogs can be trained to do incredible, life saving tasks. This book dealt primarily with the dogs themselves and their handlers. It had some really great stories of the bond between the two and the usefulness of these relationships. But as much as dogs look out for and protect people, so do we need to protect them, these innocent, loving creatures. I cant really tell who the authors audience was.I would make a hypothesis that the audience was primary students and any law enforcement or the dog activists. I say this because the book is about a dog that is forced to leave his owner, and taken to the army and is trained to become this all important dog that helps the army in missions. This book was interesting to me a student so i think its meant for any student. As well as any person who has an interest between wars and dogs. Initially, Jesse Eisenberg and Shia LaBeouf were set to star in the film; [16] however, Jonah Hill and Miles Teller were eventually cast. [17] [18] Further casting was announced in early 2015, with Ana de Armas joining in February, [19] and JB Blanc joining in March. [20] Screenwriter Stephen Chin based many of the incidents on his own experiences in Iraq. [21]

War Dogs Series by Greg Bear - Goodreads

This article about a 2010s military science fiction novel is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it. There is something less complicated (and ironically more human) about relating to war through the story of a dog" Full of information about the nature, history, and training of military service canines, War Dogs sometimes reads like an adventure and sometimes reads like a novel that focuses on relationships and affection (here between a soldier and a dog). It is a very satisfying and often emotional read." It is a great example of historical fiction. The story is very realistic. I'm usually not a fan of war stories but Martin Booth has captured the essence of war and the heart of the people and animals who endure the consequences.A journey through the writer's experiences with Working Military Dogs and their handlers, mostly through a training course. There's some short interlacing stories of these pairs (although I wish there were more), some during conflicts, some after, with a focus on the usefulness and skill of the dogs and the positive outcomes the animals have on people. Also, a discussion on the effects of PTSD on both. Very good read, especially if you know what you are getting. I initially thought the book would have more individual stories in greater detail, but it's still a story that needs to be told. A truly wonderful account of ‘man’s best friend’ in combat—and post-combat—missions: an inspirational, moving book that explains the extraordinary nature of the relationship between dogs and their military handlers in war.” Really enjoyed this book. Because there’s so much history and ground to cover, everything is fairly brief, but it’s extremely interesting and I loved the insight into the handlers as well as their dogs.
