About this deal

For me as a journalist, the ability to bring a device with me, and record footage, all without having a need for a bulky computer, capture combo seems like a dream come true. Even beyond behind closed door sessions, the possibilities for an external capture card that records right onto an SD card at 4K are endless. To use the Chat Link with the Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+, you will need to open 4K Capture Utility. Go to Settings, then the Device tab. From here go to the Audio Input selection and change it from HDMI Audio to Analog Audio. Full and Partial refer to how expanded the range is. Having this incorrectly set could cause your video to appear overly contrasted or faded. If you’re capturing video from a PC, this may need to be set to Full. If you’re capturing from a console, generally Default or Partial is recommended. Buffering A tutorial video made by the VEGAS Pro team shows what settings need to be enabled to properly work with, edit, preview and delivery HDR video:

While Elgato Game Capture HD is connected to your USB 2.0 bus, please press the Update Firmware button. DO NOT UNPLUG the unit, until the update is compete. If you are using OBS Studio primarily to stream, the you will wish to set Video Bitrate to a level well within your Internet's upload speed. A good rule to follow is setting this to 80% of your upload. If you had 5000Kbps or 5Mbps as your upload speed, then setting this value to 4000Kbps would be a good starting point. Encoder In the upper right corner, there is a Delay (ms)field. Enter 200. The properties can now be closed. This allows you to record up to 4K content directly to an SD card of your choice with just the touch of a button. To view videos in HDR, a HDR capable monitor/TV must be connected to the PC, and a 3rd party video player must be used.In this guide we’ll show you how to use your ElgatoGame Capture HD60 S+ with OBS Studio and configure the software to get the most out of your device for recording or streaming. While this guide is written for OBS Studio, many of the steps are the same for Streamlabs OBS.

This article tells you about how you can change the settings.txt file via a computer's text editor. Still need help?

DO NOT update firmware for the following products at any time, unless Elgato Technical Support tells you to do so for specific troubleshooting purposes:

In rare cases, a firmware update can actually harm the Elgatohardware. This is why it should always be done under the supervision of Elgato Support, under very specific circumstances. Next, you will want to choose the framerate or FPS of your stream or recording. Typically you will want to have this set to 60.

The setup is very similar to OBS Studio however the placement and names of some settings have changed. If the input to 4K60 S+ is 4K (2160p) at 60 frames per second, the resulting recording will have a resolution of 2160p at 60 frames per second. Since Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ only writes video files to the SD Card, the sustained write speed is important.
