Supposedly, the proper name for this timepiece is the Orient Three Star, sometimes written as Orient 3 Star. Orient claims that this 21 jewels movement achieves 21,600 oscillations per hour (or 6 beats per second). That gives their watches great longevity, meaning that you’ll be able to keep this watch around for a long time. Final Verdict: Worth It

It features a very lightly brushed vertical pattern that gives this already unique dial an added touch of character. I really enjoy the fun dial Orient chose for this 3 Star model, it’s a nice splash of color that is in no way too loud for everyday wear or even for some dresser occasions. Third, the lume is totally worthless.The hands have lume and there are dots on the dial for every index except the 3 position because the date window is there. But it's a very low-powered lume and there's no way to read this thing in the dark. Best low-end self-winding automatic?I wish Orient would take the time to put a dark date wheel here, unfortunately, we are left with a white one, but at least the surround is gold, which does match the indices. You’ll notice the second hand beating along rapidly, as we are even getting a mechanical movement in this budget watch. In general, all the designs offer good contrast, although some dials are easier to read than others depending on the color combination. Covering the watch is a piece of mineral crystal. This is absolutely what I would have expected and is okay. It will provide a bit of scratch protection but is very reflective. The color gradient looks even better in person than it does online, and the applied indices and brand logo give the dial a nice texture that’s excellent for the price. The Strap The Three Star does pass this test for two reasons. First, it has an uncluttered dial, and second, the minute hands are as such where they can be distinguished just about anywhere...

I think they're really good watches for the price, designed to low maintenance and anyone who likes small dress watches should try one. They have their charm, but also they have its flaws. If you're used to higher WR rated watches maybe another automatic could be a better starter watch. If you're okay with the flaws is a very unique and nice little watch. They're a good starter automatic watch if you were used to take off watches before shower and don't use them at pool, etc. As secondary watch or if you have a collection they're always a nice addition. The Orient 3 Star collection began production in the 1970s, although the brand had already been using the three-star logo on other watches since the 1950s. Each model of the Orient 3 Star has a different dial design, and some dials are truly eye-catching with shiny finishes and vibrant colors. As for the movement that powers the watch, we have the Orient F4902, a variation of the in-house automatic caliber 469.

Without a doubt, the green dial of the 3 Star FAB00009N is its most impressive attribute. Depending on the lighting conditions, the dial transitions from being a beautiful teal to being an equally beautiful light teal pastel. The dial appears to be made from a metallic material that has a slightly reflective finish that allows it to change shades of green in different light. What I was first taken by out-of-the-box is how much better the watch looks in person compared to online photos. Night and day difference. In product photos, the Three Star looks cheap, but in person it looks like a proper gentleman's watch. However, the Orient Tristar collection as such, with all its various models, would not reach the market until two decades later. At the centre of the quartz watch industry was fellow Japanese brand Seiko, who had released the first quartz watch. Like Orient, Seiko continued to produce mechanical watches. Their Seiko 5 line is a direct competitor to the TriStar watches. Like Orient’s collection, the Seiko 5 line aims to meet minimum standards for affordable watches with automatic movements at their core (more here). Ordinarily, I do not like a watch dial that is nothing but symbols, but the way the Three Star is designed works well.
