About this deal

Oxford Summer Courses is an organisation which contracts with the colleges of the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and London for the use of facilities, but which has no formal connection with the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and London. I recommend this book to anyone, law student or not; but you must read it if you are considering criminal law. Hart thought that law was simply a collection of man-made rules, which we created and we can choose to follow or ignore.

When you are studying English law, most of the books of interest to you will be shelved on Level 2, the entrance level to the Law Bod. The main focus is on telling you how to study effectively, and McBride gives all kinds of sensible and useful advice, from general topics like how much work you should be doing, to more specific things like how to make notes on a case. This provides access to practice notes and answers; allows comparison of different jurisdictions; and provides information on arbitrators. I recommend you work out which of the above three ideas you find the most interesting, and read the corresponding book as a starting point.Short yet precise, About Law offers a basic, but great introduction to law and a range of topics, including; the purpose of law, a simple explanation of how it works, as well as an introduction to the legal system in England. Providing both interesting yet comprehensive coverage of UK law, Slapper’s book avoids the legal jargon, providing an accessible entry point to the different types of law and legal techniques used within the system. invites readers on a journey of moral reflection, encouraging us to think through and question the complexities of modern social dilemmas. His ideas are therefore directly opposed to those of Hart, and the two authors argued about this for many years (the question remains unresolved).

International A Levels have a modular structure, yet remain comparable to A levels, as confirmed by NARIC (The national agency responsible for providing information and expert opinion on qualifications and skills worldwide). A comprehensive, witty, and easy-to-read law book for beginners, Gary Slapper’s How Law Works is a refreshing but reliable guide to the modern legal system here in the UK. Use text-to-speech to make the content more accessible to students and improve comprehension and pronunciation. They study the structure and operation of the English legal system, and law of contract and tort (2020-2022 exams). Written by Jonathan Herring, Professor of Law at the University of Oxford and Fellow in Law at Exeter College, it is a great introduction to key concepts in Criminal Law, including the key tensions and questions which surround it.

As well as being a great judge, Lord Denning is an important figure because he rose to such a lofty position from a very poor family, with no prior links to the Law at all. Secure students' legal competence and professional legal skills through reimagined digital learning. Seamlessly move between the printed view for front-of-class teaching and the interactive view for independent study.

Richard Wortley is Director of the Jill Dando Institute for Security and Crime Science and Head of Department of Security and Crime Science at University College London. With students arriving at university after years of disrupted education, the transition period and maintaining their wellbeing could be an especially difficult time for this year’s cohort. In this case, the court ruled that it is a criminal offence to intentionally or recklessly inflict actual bodily harm (ABH) or cut another person for sexual gratification, even if they consent. Offering something slightly different to the other books on our list, fans of Dickens may well be acquainted with his novel Bleak House – as it is still cited as one of his best works today. There is no other principle distinctly, certainly, and consistently maintained through all its narrow turnings. Victims’ cases are dropped without justice and innocent defendants have their lives ruined or are bankrupted paying legal fees for which they are never compensated.
